The UKKA has a number of opportunities to chair committees and input into key areas. Participation in these committees benefits the wider renal community through the creation of useful resources, projects and outputs. It also offers the opportunity for networking, leadership experience and ensures that the diverse voice of the membership is heard in all areas of the community. The Kidney Patient Safety Committee (KPSC) is seeking EOI for a Co-Chair

The KPSC supports healthcare professionals working in kidney care to deliver safe, effective, person-centred care with the aim to improve the lives of people with kidney disease by providing or enhancing patient safety-related leadership. A sub-committee of the UKKA Clinical Affairs Committee, the KPSC works closely with the MHRA and NHS Improvement. The KPSC meets once a month to discuss current patient safety issues and progress on identified areas. The committee has broad MPT representation.

The Patient Information Committee is seeking EOI for a Chair

The Patient Information Committee is managed in partnership between the UKKA and Kidney Care UK. It creates a series of high-quality, nationally accessible, patient-focused resources, including leaflets, webinars and videos on a variety of topics relating to kidney health. The topics are chosen by the kidney patient community because of their importance, as well as the current lack of easily accessible information on those areas. The Chair provides professional oversight and advice to the committee.

The Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee (EDI) is seeking EOI for a Chair and new members

The EDI Committee ensures that the UKKA reflects the membership’s diverse characteristics, backgrounds and experiences. The committee acts as a resource for the kidney community in developing or identifying advice and best practice, education programmes, and to ensure that equal opportunities are at the centre of the organisation and the renal community.

The International Committee is seeking EOI for an MPT Co-Chair and new MPT members

The International Committee aims to encourage UKKA members to contribute to developing kidney services, infrastructure and expertise in medium and low-income countries, through education, training, mentorship and research. We host monthly case-based discussions with collaborating or sister units from all over the world, including Tanzania, Nigeria, India, Bosnia, Kazakhstan, Mauritius and Ghana. Going forward, the committee will facilitate greater collaborative work with partners globally.
