Chair of the International Committee
Expressions of interest are sought for Chairs of the International Committee of the soon to be formed UK Kidney Association (UKKA):
- Medic Co-Chair
- Multi-professional team Co-chair
It is anticipated that any successful applicant will become a member of the new UKKA.
“The international committee aims to encourage RA members to contribute to developing kidney services, infrastructure and expertise in medium and low-income countries, through education, training, mentorship and research. We also work in close partnership with the International Society of Nephrology (ISN) to further these aims. Over the last year, it has been clear how much benefit comes from collaborative working and how much inequity there is for people to access health services, making the role of the committee even more critical. We have established a monthly case-based discussion with collaborating or sister units from all over the world, including Tanzania, Nigeria, India, Bosnia, Kazakhstan and we have plans for more with Indonesia, Mauritius to name but a few. We have encouraged and facilitated training posts supported by KRUK, for trainees from abroad to come to the UK and are actively encouraging reverse fellowships, in association with ISN, for UK trainees to spend time abroad. Going forward the aim for the committee would be to facilitate greater collaborative work- research and clinical with partners globally.
