Chair of the Clinical Practice Guidelines Committee

Expressions of interest are sought for Chairs of the Clinical Practice Guidelines Committee (CPG) of the soon to be formed UK Kidney Association (UKKA):

  • Medic Co-Chair
  • Multi-professional team Co-chair

It is anticipated that any successful applicant will become a member of the new UKKA.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as Chair of the CPG Committee but it is time to hand over. A large number of guidelines and commentaries have been produced recently and this continues to be one of the most visited sections of the website and a valuable resource for the renal community.

The committee members include adult and paediatric nephrologists, nurses, pharmacists, renal trainees and patient representatives. Meetings have been taking place approximately every 2 months. The role of the committee is to oversee decisions on which guidelines and commentaries to produce or renew, select authors and to facilitate progress and peer review.

The new chair will need to establish the place of the CPG committee within the structure of the new UK Kidney Association. NICE accreditation of guidelines is coming up for renewal and the new chair will need to oversee this, although it should not be too onerous. Other areas for development include closer working with the Association of British and Clinical Diabetologists and other national specialty organisations. Please contact me with any questions about this role”.

Dr Mike Robson, outgoing Chair
