Dr Sharlene Greenwood currently holds this position, she will be stepping back to the role of Past President in October 2022. As Past President, she will support the incoming Co-President Elect for one year.
She says: “Following the merger between the British Renal Society and the Renal Association 12 months ago, the UK Kidney Association continues to gain momentum and is developing into a leading multi-professional organisation. We are already seeing the huge benefits of working more closely together with the whole renal community. I have really enjoyed my time as co-president of UKKA. It has been an exciting and fulfilling role, and a great opportunity to work as part of a forward-thinking group of trustees, and with my medical co-president. There are already many exciting initiatives underway – building a cohesive special interest group structure, supporting the professional groups and establishing the organisation as a professional support structure for innovation in clinical practice and research. The next 5 years are an important time. The new inclusive culture that we are building together must bed in, and there is opportunity to work as part of the UKKA team to grow early career research, leadership roles and further support our renal workforce. I hope that many people from the multi-professional team look to taking on this leadership position, and know that they will enjoy the role as much as I have".
