From 1 December 2024, our UKKA membership fees will be changing.

We are launching a new website with an integrated member dashboard and new membership tiers based on salary banding.

This brings us in line with other professional societies and will make it easier for you, and the UKKA, to manage your membership.

What does this mean for your membership?

All members have been allocated to one of our new tiers, based on your existing membership rate and the job role that you have listed with us.

When the new membership dashboard launches in December, you will be able to log in to manage your membership and update your details in one place.

In most cases, you do not need to do anything, and for direct debit payers, your next payment will simply be taken at your new rate. For those on single payment methods, you will be prompted (by email) to renew at the new rate upon your next renewal.

We will be in touch soon to let you know which tier you have been allocated to, and if you believe you should be on a different tier, please let us know by contacting ukka@ukkidney.org, so we can update this.

For members on a £10 introductory rate, your next payment will be taken at the new rate, on the price tier you have been allocated to.

Why are we making these changes?

We are pleased that the UKKA is growing. As the world’s oldest continuously active professional kidney society, we are a diverse, multifaceted organisation with nearly 2,000 members.

Previously, we had several membership categories reflecting the wide range of professions and specialities that make up the UKKA. Bringing in our simplified membership tiers will provide parity across these different groups, and a salary-based system was deemed fairest for our members after conducting a thorough review.

Some members’ fees will increase slightly as a result of these changes. However, we have aimed to minimise this to continue to provide the best value for money while making UKKA membership as accessible as possible. Increasing fees is not a decision we take lightly, which is why this is our first fee change since 2014.
