It is great news that COVID-19 vaccines are being approved and a vaccination programme has started. There is much work going on to ensure that patients with kidney disease are supported to receive vaccination. There are logistical challenges around vaccination and the RA and BRS are seeking to convene a group to support development of standards and operational guidelines in the implementation of COVID-19 vaccination. The aim would be to support providers and renal networks with best practice evidence. This will include identifying training needs and evidenced based models of best practice of vaccination, to patients receiving in centre haemodialysis and other kidney patient groups at high risk from COVID-19.
The group will aim to co-ordinate work in the following key areas :
1. Staff and Patient Education, Awareness and Training in Kidney care
2. Models and protocols for administration of the COVID 19 vaccine
3. Evaluation of vaccine efficacy in renal patients
We would be grateful for expression of interest for participating in this working group.
Please send expressions of interest stating your current role and a short statement (of up to 200 words) summarising the basis for your involvement in the group by email to renal@renal.org, by noon on Tuesday 15 Dec 2020.
